What is your process for working with a new customer?
Our contractor usually spends at least an hour discussing the project and making any suggestions. After the consultation, we put together a scope-of-work document and an itemized price list.
What education/training do you have?
Our lead contractor boasts over a decade of experience, having spent eight of those years as a licensed contractor. He can handle a range of jobs, from minor handyman work to whole-home renovations.
Do you have a standard pricing system?
Pricing is specific to the project and based on the projected man-hours needed to finish the job. Exceptions to this rule include the installation of dishwashers and doors.
How did you get started in the business?
Our contractor took his first steps into the construction world as a teenager, helping his father build the new family home. He continued his career and eventually opened JWB Building and Remodeling.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Anyone involved in the residential construction and repair industry, including homeowners, investors, real estate agents, renters, other general contractors and architects.
Describe a recent project you’re proud of and how long it took to complete.
Last year, JWB Building and Remodeling rehabilitated a two-story multi-family home that was built in the 1920s. Our six-man crew worked for five months to completely replace the deteriorated and hazardous interior.
What advice do you have for someone wanting to hire a general contractor?
Make sure you and your chosen contractor communicate regularly, and that they are competent in the field. There's a famous quote: "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after low pricing is forgotten.” Professional craftsman usually don’t compete based on price and that is reflected in the final product.
What should customers think about before contacting a contractor?
Know how you want the finished remodel to look, and make sure you communicate that to the contractor effectively. If using multiple contractors, make sure each one is provided with the same scope-of-work document. Also, don’t forget: you’ll need to put up with the level of chaos a remodeling and new construction project creates.
Whether you want to remodel your home’s basement or add a kitchen to your office, you won’t regret choosing JWB Building and Remodeling. Our lead contractor has worked hard over the years to become your go-to resource for renovations and new construction work.
